Using Websites for Marketing

Using the web is one of the most important aspects of marketing, especially for a web-based game like Multi-Space. I plan on utilising the 'AIDA' method - Attention, Interest, Desire, Action (Connick, 2022). 

For grabbing a users 'attention' towards my game, I will need to create some appealing graphics that stand out amongst the rest of the competition. Bold and colourful titles can also contribute to this. To develop 'interest' in my game, I will provide plenty of graphics and easy-to-read sections that instantly show all that the game has to offer.  By including elements such as playable demos and more details on the gameplay that may be 'desirable' to people. Within the itch.io page I will have an obvious download link for people to access the game, making it easy for anyone to take 'action' and play the game, this being my core objective with this project. As well as that, another one of my objectives discussed in a previous post is to build a reputation and awareness in the gaming community so by providing additional links to my website and social media links this will all contribute to the users taking action.

I look to improve my itch.io page and improve the SEO of my page. WORDS! MORE WORDS! This is one method I will use for this. By including various related words to my games, this will improve how discoverable my game is in a search engine (Land, 2022).

Display media advertising can also be very effective for marketing my game. Although this can be a little more costly, I can target who sees the advert specific to my target audience or those most likely to play the game. Some forms of displayed media includes interstitial ads and banners. These are good when placed within other game apps since the people playing the games are most likely to play... other games. Although one draw back is that the game could be viewed in a negative way if it appears as interstitial or banner ads, getting in the way of the players game uninvited.
