Analytical Tools

Having declared multiple times now about how analytics are heavily important for monitoring my game, it's now time to talk about the practicality of doing so. I want to look at what resources there are to track what I need and what methods will be the easiest to use. Funnel analysis is a good way to get an overall picture of the customers journey, from seeing your product to actually buying it (Chartio, 2022). This can be put together using multiple sets of data to show the conversion rate between each stage of a purchase. An example of this can be the site visitations to number of shopping cart additions to the number of checkouts completed (Chartio, 2022). As each stage progresses, the number will get smaller, resulting in a funnel-shaped graph.

The analytics used to create the funnel analysis graph can be gathered using multiple tools. For example, if I was to sell my game on my website, I could use Google Analytics to get the information on the number of visits to my website, or even a specific page. This can be used in more detail as you can split up the page visits into multiple demographics (Google Marketing Platform, 2022).

Another great tool which can help any developer to know exactly the state of their game's current popularity across the web is a website called Mention.com. This tool allows a developer to be alerted whenever a new post, article, or general media content is put on the internet  (Mention, 2022). This can help to know how to plan for interacting with the community based on current stances and opinions on the game (Mention, 2022)
