Analytic Techniques

Analytic techniques are ways we can monitor different aspects of our game. This includes things such as traffic, click-through-rates, engagement (Dickey, 2017) and much more! Each of these categories can be opened up further and monitored in lots of different ways.

One analytic technique that I could use in the case of my game is if they are a new or returning user (Dickey, 2017). If I am only getting new users onto my itch page, then there may be a chance that... people play my game once and don't want to play it again. This technique can provide crucial insight into the hard fact that my game may need some changes to make it more enjoyable to play.

Another technique relevant to MULTI-SPACE could be the engagement of social media posts. More specifically, the number of link clicks on social media posts. This could indicate an interest sparking on the users end that triggers the engagement. It's easy to get caught up with the number of likes or page follows, otherwise known as "vanity metrics" (Dickey, 2017), but if nobody actually clicks on what I share, then those numbers contribute nothing towards my game.

Click-Through-Rates (Dickey, 2017) such as the number of page visitors directly referred from an advert I have setup provides further insight into how well my advert is drawing peoples attention to my game and if it creates enough interest to make a person click.

All of these together will hopefully show changes or adjustments needed in order to have more success with my "MULTI"- million dollar game idea!
