My Target Audience

The target market will help me to know who I am developing my game for, as well as who to target for marketing. The target market is a specific part of the overall market to which I want to advertise my game. The brief has specified that the game will be showcased at an arcade for 12-18 year olds in Fife, Scotland. This generally covers the main demographics but I must expand upon that to fully flesh out my target market, especially within the psychographics.

As far as demographics go, the age and location have been give to me. This will direct the way my game goes in development. I now need to specify what psychographs will apply to my game when considering the game concept I have developed so far. This consists of a Sci-Fi theme along with a simple enemy wave system. The simplicity of the game can apply to everybody, no matter their gaming ability. The brief also specifies that it will run on a PC, which will be used on an arcade. This then applies to people who have access to a PC.

To help me relate to the target audience (HubleDigital, 2022), I have made three buyer personas. These are spreadsheets of information, each based on a person from your target audience. This will help me to know who I will be developing for  (HubleDigital, 2022), as well as splitting up my target audience into groups (HubleDigital, 2022). 

My buyer personas all range in gaming experience and are between the ages of 13 and 17. As well as this, both male and female genders are present. My personas help to put me in the shoes of my target audience. This helps me to see that my game will be easily playable by a wide variety of players, no matter their gaming experience.
